Why Choose Post Frame Construction?

Post frame buildings aren't just popular—they're practical. And when built right, they give you the flexibility and functionality to grow with your farm or agribusiness with confidence.

4 Benefits of Post Frame Buildings:

1. Cost Efficient

They require less material and can be set up in less time, which makes them a fantastic, affordable option for your farm-building needs.

2. Super Strong

Built from a combination of sturdy posts and heavy-duty trusses, post frame buildings are also highly durable, capable of easily withstanding heavy snow loads and wicked Midwestern winds, making the ideal for ag buildings.

3. Energy Efficient

Speaking of weather, an often overlooked benefit of post frame buildings is the incredibly efficient insulation they provide. Post frame buildings use sturdy posts spaced eight feet apart (on average). This provides eight uninterrupted feet for laying insulation, reducing areas where heat can escape leading to considerable energy savings over the lie of the building.

4. Easily Customized

No interior load-bearing walls means wide open interiors and total layout flexibility. Need to expand or reconfigure later? No problem. Supported solely by posts and trusses, post frame buildings don't need interior walls providing large, open interior spaces. This allows for incredible design flexibility creating an endless array of possible uses. They can also be easily reconfigured and adapted again and again because they don't require interior support walls.

How Post Frame Buildings Work

Pole barns or post frame buildings consist of wood poles connected by cross beams in a post frame construction for extra stability. Wood trusses and wood purlins form the roof, and the building usually has metal siding. These buildings are sturdy and relatively easy to assemble, and they can be used for many purposes.

What Affects the Cost?

No two buildings are the same, and pricing depends on:

-Size and scope of your structure

-Features like insulation, door size/type, interior finishes

-Materials and finish choices

We'll walk you through it all—and help you create a plan that fits your budget without cutting corners.

Built with You in Mind

We're not here to give you a cookie-cutter building. We're here to build something that works for your farm and your future.

From the first phone call to the final walk-through, your Summit project manager will be with you every step of the way. And after the building's done, we'll still be around–because at Summit Contracting, we believe in building relationships as strong as the structures we leave behind.
